Brief History

In 1590, the Spanish Navy of Acapulco made Capiz a naval yard because of its favorable anchorage. After 361 years, it became a city.

The yard that it was turned into a trading and shipping center, and eventually a town.

Some Spanish naval personnel intermarried with the native women. The resulting children became the influential citizens of the place later.
